The Friends spin-off Joey has release eight previously unaired episodes for the first time since the show was cancelled.

The sitcom, which followed Matt LeBlanc’s Joey Tribiani after the events of Friends, co-starred The Sopranos actor Drea de Matteo, as well as Jennifer Coolidge. It premiered in 2004, drawing 18.6million viewers for its pilot.

However, declining ratings meant that the show was cut short during the second season in 2006, being cancelled with eight episodes still to air. However, fans of the series can see the conclusion of the comedy as they have been added to the Friends official YouTube channel, along with the episodes that were already aired.

Friends ran for 10 seasons on NBC from 1994 to 2004, with LeBlanc starring alongside co-stars Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, and the late Matthew Perry. Talk of a revival has circulated for years, but has subsided following Perry’s death in 2023.

The whole cast reunited once for a reunion special in 2021, and revealed that they had only met as a group once in 17 years privately.

In September of 2024, Cox dismissed the idea of a reboot for the show. “It’s hard to try to redo anything,” she told People. “Anything with ‘re’ in front of it with this group…I think it’s so special.”

She did, however, praise the show and its enduring popularity. “Every joke holds up, all the characters are just so amazing, and we [had] the best writers in the world. I’m lucky that it continues on through all the generations. And that’s very fortunate.”

However, actor Zoe Kravitz disagreed about the film’s legacy, criticising the sitcom’s “super homophobic” jokes during a press tour in September.

In October, Ozzy Osbourne’s posthumous memoir Last Rites revealed that Matthew Perry attended AA meetings at the Black Sabbath legend’s house. He described him as “The funniest, most talented bloke. And he was trying so hard to stay on the right path.”
