Stand clear of the closing doors, please. Chappell Roan‘s “The Subway” has finally pulled into the platform. After more than a year since she debuted the track at her 2024 Governor’s Ball set — for which she was in full green body paint for Statue of Liberty cosplay — “The Subway” finally dropped on streaming services Thursday (July 31). Fans are well-acquainted with the song at this point, as the pop star often plays it at her live shows, but now, they’ll have an official studio recording to listen to at last. German singer and songwriter Daniel Avens has just shared his brand new single Visions Of Summer, a nostalgic summer hymn.  I am a fan of Daniel Avens’s gorgeous vocals which have a raspy touch that effortlessly enhances the raw, honest emotion pouring from his passionate vocal delivery. Visions Of Summer finds the talented artist capturing the fragility of a fleeting relationship, beautifully dealing with pain, love and the power of memories. Accompanying his heartfelt vocals we have a lush grand piano-based melody (by jazz pianist Masako Sakai) which is nicely intertwined with delicate guitar plucks that come together to create an…

Universal Music Group (UMG) reported strong streaming and publishing growth on Thursday (July 31), with total revenue reaching 2.98 billion euros ($3.38 billion), up 4.5% in constant currency (which excludes losses from foreign currency changes). That was less than half the first quarter’s growth rate of 9.5%, and some parts of UMG’s business — namely physical music and merchandise — didn’t compare well to the prior-year quarter. Here are some key takeaways from UMG’s second quarter earnings release and a conference call with executives. The now ARIA Hall-Of-Famer was only 17 years old at the time. Higgins’ entry,…

Enamoring with a catchy pop sound infused with jazz and soul savvy, “igloo” is a fantastic new track from in/of. Hypnotic synths traverse quickly into a bouncy bass pulse, while smooth vocals exude a sense of tumult using heat and cold metaphors. “Is it the temp?” they ask, beckoning in the subsequent chorus: “Let’s escape this heat wave into an igloo / Don’t melt away.” The lyrics play artfully, capturing emotional turbulence — akin to being trapped in a heat wave, and seeking relief from the mood-cooling “igloo.” The additional vocal lead, after the first chorus, stirs in retaining the…

Hatebreed’s founding bassist Chris Beattie has brought a lawsuit against the metalcore band, alleging frontman Jamey Jasta unceremoniously kicked him out after 30 years so he could get a larger cut of the band’s profits. The legal complaint provides a window into Beattie’s abrupt departure from Hatebreed earlier this year. The bassist made clear at the time that the move was not his choice, calling his ouster “uncalled for” in a statement and hinting that he’d take “future actions” to address the situation. Related Beattie is now indeed taking action, suing Hatebreed and Jasta (James Shanahan) on Wednesday (July 30).…

Swiss band Iron Echo share their brand new single Breathless, a high-energy pop-rock song reminiscent of late 90s/early 00s pop-rock.  I am really enjoying the powerful, passionate vocals and how they share a message about irresistible attraction, when someone’s presence takes your breath away. A song that captures the intense pull between two people, Breathless pairs those gorgeous vocals with soaring guitar riffs nicely intertwined with punchy drum beats and an irresistible hook that come together to create an overall emotional and upbeat atmosphere full of passion and energy!

K-pop is in the midst of its biggest global moment yet, but as the industry scales new heights, questions are emerging about whether its business practices and ethical standards are keeping pace. A recent court ruling in South Korea has brought this issue into sharp focus. On July 22, 2025, the Seoul Southern District Court found three former employees of HYBE’s affiliate labels, Source Music, BigHit Music and Belift Lab, guilty of insider trading. Prosecutors revealed that the employees sold HYBE stock using undisclosed information about BTS’s forthcoming military enlistment, a move that violated South Korea’s Capital Markets Act. Related…

Global electronic music pioneers Infected Mushroom have officially launched “Infected Mushroom: Pinball,” the most realistic and psychedelic pinball game ever developed. This innovative new title marks a bold fusion of immersive gaming and musical artistry, pushing the boundaries of both mediums. The idea was born six years ago when Infected Mushroom’s Erez Eisen first experimented with early VR headsets. That was the moment that ignited the thought: How do we create our own game? Being so busy, touring the globe on shows, writing music constantly for new albums & projects, where will we find the time to develop a game?…
