Paramore’s Hayley Williams has responded to criticism that her band’s music is back on streaming services in Israel just a week after they announced they were supporting the No Music For Genocide campaign, where artists pledge to geo-block their tracks so that they are no longer available to stream within the Israeli market. Her response is a reminder that artists are not always in direct control of where their music is available. In a post on Instagram, she wrote, “I don’t know why those albums were made available again after being successfully geo-blocked”. Warner’s Atlantic Records controls all of the Paramore albums.…
Charleston, WV-based artist Jonathan Calhoun returns with Lifetime on I-79, a fifth album that blends personable folk songwriting with road-worn reflection. Recorded in his home studio, the songs center on acoustic guitar and unguarded vocals, tracing personal memories and societal observations alike. Drawing on influences from Springsteen to Petty while forging his own path, Calhoun crafts a collection that feels timeless, heartfelt, and unmistakably rooted in West Virginia. The album’s title track is especially indicative of Calhoun’s quality songwriting, which echoes a no-frills folk prowess amidst heart-on-sleeve lyrical dispositions, reminding fondly of Magnetic Fields in that regard. “I was looking…
American singer and songwriter Lia Menaker shares her brand new single I’m Still Here, a power anthem of resilience and rebirth out now on Bardo Soul Records. What I like the most about this song is how rich Menaker’s voice is, beautifully capturing my attention from the start. I’m Still Here is a vocally-driven pop anthem that finds the talented artist reflecting on past hardships and struggles, yet emphasising her strength grounded in love and survival, being happy and thankful for still being here. Accompanying her rich vocals we have a retro-infused blend of Contemporary R&B with an old School/Vintage feel,…

In fact, go ahead and get some tissues. In her first episode back, Clarkson featured as her guests not only celebs Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie, but also Kerville Independent School District Superintendent Brent Ringo and 12 of its bus drivers who helped rescue hundreds of children stranded at camp during the deadly July 4 floods in Texas. “We just wanted to…

Disney have announced that a sequel to The Simpsons Movie is coming to cinemas in 2027. It will have been 20 years since the iconic animated family were on the big screen by the time of the sequel’s release, with Disney subsidiary 20th Century Studios confirming the release date for the new movie will be July 23, 2027. As noted by Variety, that date had been provisionally set aside in Disney’s future plans for a new Marvel project, but that film has now been removed from the schedules, meaning there will now be no entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe…
Singer-songwriter Labi Siffre and his publisher BMG have issued a cease and desist against right wing activist Tommy Robinson over his use of the hit song ‘(Something Inside) So Strong’ – a famous anti-apartheid anthem – on his social media and at the recent ‘Unite The Kingdom’ political rally in London. Speaking to The Guardian, Siffre said, “Anybody who knows me and knows my work since 1970 will know the joke of them using the work of a positive atheist, homosexual black artist as apparently representative of their movement”. Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is “breaking all sorts of copyrights”, the…
“Reruns” is a stirring new track from Colorado-based duo Woven Hollow, whose blend of dreamy folk intimacy and lyrical storytelling reflects on the cycles we repeat and the comforts we cling to — particularly in a digital age where media consumption can serve as an escape. Built on husband-and-wife duo Anna Murphy and Van Wampler’s natural vocal chemistry, the track plays with poignant thematic entrancement. “The internet would have us believe we’re living in a time of major progress,” the band says. “But even the most ‘progressive’ among us still uphold habits and systems that are doing harm. ‘Reruns’ captures…
