Disney have announced that a sequel to The Simpsons Movie is coming to cinemas in 2027. It will have been 20 years since the iconic animated family were on the big screen by the time of the sequel’s release, with Disney subsidiary 20th Century Studios confirming the release date for the new movie will be July 23, 2027. As noted by Variety, that date had been provisionally set aside in Disney’s future plans for a new Marvel project, but that film has now been removed from the schedules, meaning there will now be no entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe…
Singer-songwriter Labi Siffre and his publisher BMG have issued a cease and desist against right wing activist Tommy Robinson over his use of the hit song ‘(Something Inside) So Strong’ – a famous anti-apartheid anthem – on his social media and at the recent ‘Unite The Kingdom’ political rally in London. Speaking to The Guardian, Siffre said, “Anybody who knows me and knows my work since 1970 will know the joke of them using the work of a positive atheist, homosexual black artist as apparently representative of their movement”. Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is “breaking all sorts of copyrights”, the…
“Reruns” is a stirring new track from Colorado-based duo Woven Hollow, whose blend of dreamy folk intimacy and lyrical storytelling reflects on the cycles we repeat and the comforts we cling to — particularly in a digital age where media consumption can serve as an escape. Built on husband-and-wife duo Anna Murphy and Van Wampler’s natural vocal chemistry, the track plays with poignant thematic entrancement. “The internet would have us believe we’re living in a time of major progress,” the band says. “But even the most ‘progressive’ among us still uphold habits and systems that are doing harm. ‘Reruns’ captures…
A US court has given collecting society The MLC permission to amend its lawsuit against Spotify over the streaming giant’s audiobook bundling tricks, reopening a case that was previously dismissed back in January. Spotify is accused of cynically and incorrectly exploiting a bundling provision in the compulsory licence that the MLC administers to reduce what it pays to songwriters and music publishers. That accusation came after the streaming company introduced audiobook access within its premium subscription packages back in 2023, giving subscribers access to audiobooks within their existing subscriptions. That then allowed Spotify to subsequently and significantly rejig the way it slices…

When NME is granted an audience with Steven Knight, the visionary showrunner behind Peaky Blinders, we find him perched coolly at the end of a long wooden table in the darkened suite of a posh central London hotel. It’s a bit like being led into a meeting with Vito Corleone, Marlon Brando’s character in The Godfather (though thankfully the 66-year-old Brummie is the more approachable of the two). We’re here to discuss House Of Guinness, Knight’s sprawling new Netflix drama about the real-life titular family, who rose to de facto aristocratic status in their native Ireland thanks to their production…
