Every month, Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors spotlight a group of rising artists whose music we love. Think “diamantes en bruto,” or “diamonds in the rough.” These are newcomers who have yet to impact the mainstream — but whose music excites us, and who we believe our readers should make a point to discover. Explore See latest videos, charts and news Our latest edition of On the Radar Latin includes a wave of emerging artists, who we discovered either by networking, or coming across their music at a showcase, or elsewhere. IDLES have released a raucous, volatile new track called ‘Rabbit Run’, which is taken from Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming feature film Caught Stealing. It is one of four new tracks the band has made for the crime film, which all feature as part of a soundtrack composed by Rob Simonsen. The film, which will come out on August 29, features Austin Butler, Bad Bunny, Zoë Kravitz, Action Bronson and more. The film’s full soundtrack will also be released on the same day. IDLES were brought in to capture the energy and feeling of the 1990s New York punk scene. In a…
While all eyes have been on the now-former Astronomer CEO and HR chief from the notorious kiss cam scandal at Coldplay’s concert, Chris Martin has redirected everyone’s attention to Ayra Starr, whom he believes will be “the world’s biggest pop star so soon.” She performed her sweltering single “Hot Body” for the first time during the Miami stop of Music of the Sphere World Tour last weekend. There has been no shortage of hot new releases this season, from Darkoo’s sensual, sun-soaked EP $exy Girl $ummer (Vol. 1) to Odeal’s thoughtful, globe-trotting EP The Summer That Saved Me. We’ve highlighted…
A high court judge has declined to issue a summary judgment against the Royal Albert Hall over how frequently the London venue classifies its shows as ‘exclusives’, which stops the venue’s ‘seat owners’ from using their seats. Because, you see, the charity that runs the Royal Albert Hall doesn’t actually own all the seats in the building and how it deals with the seats owned by third parties is set out in a bespoke act of Parliament. Basically, the Royal Albert Hall is a bit weird. Arthur George, William Stockler and Alexander Stockler together own sixteen seats in the Royal Albert Hall.…
Rising alt-rock artist and mental health advocate Avatari shares the official music video for his latest single Hold On, a sweeping, emotionally charged single. Born in the sacred stillness of Joshua Tree and forged in the chaos of political unrest, wildfires, and pandemic isolation, Hold On is both a battle cry and a balm, a reminder that even when the sky is falling, there’s still something worth holding onto. I am really enjoying his expressive vocals and how passionate his vocal delivery is, soaring effortlessly over the polished alt-rock production with lush guitars and punchy drums. The accompanying music video, directed by…
Add British singer Jess Glynne to the long list of musicians who have taken offense at the use of their songs in one of Donald Trump’s campaign ads. The singer took to her Instagram Story on Wednesday morning (July 30) to express her disgust about a White House X post on Monday that appeared to make light of undocumented people being deported by ICE cued to her 2015 Billboard Hot 100 No. 86 hit “Hold My Hand.” “This post honestly makes me sick,” Glynne wrote over a re-post of a screen shot from the ad in which the detainees’ faces…
In a quiet moment amidst the mayhem of her show, Lady Gaga gave her fiancé, Michael Polansky, a sweet shout-out during her concert at the Kia Forum on Tuesday (July 29). Sitting at the piano after singing her Billboard Hot 100-topping Bruno Mars duet, “Die With a Smile,” solo, the pop superstar tearfully thanked Polansky as Little Monsters in the Los Angeles crowd cheered, as captured in a clip on X. “To Michael, Michael Polansky, the love of my life,” she began, her voice quivering slightly. “It’s so much more fun doing this with you, my babe,” she continued, before…
The European Commission “largely ignored” creators and copyright owners when producing official guidance on the copyright and transparency obligations contained in the EU AI Act. Officials instead chose to implement the new AI regulations in a way that “solely benefits” the AI companies that “continuously infringe copyright and related rights to build their models”. That is according to a consortium of organisations representing creators and rightsholders from across the music, media, film, TV, books and visual art sectors, including music industry groups AEPO-ARTIS, BIEM, CISAC, ECSA, FIM, GESAC, IAO, ICMP, IFPI, IMPALA and IMPF. With the way the EU AI Act is…
Spotify users will now have to verify their age to access certain content on the platform due to the introduction of the UK Online Safety Act. It came into effect last week, and means social media companies and search services now have a “legal duties to protect their users from illegal content and content harmful to children.” As part of the act, users must now prove their age to access websites that host adult content. You can typically do this by uploading pictures of Government-issued ID such as passports or driving licences or take a video selfie, which the system…
American singer and songwriter Brandon Markell Holmes shares his brand new single Love Is Here, a modern disco/dance track taken from his latest album Try, out now via toucan sounds. Produced by Jack Payne, Love Is Here finds Holmes singing about finding love, working towards it, and keep moving even in tough times. I am loving the tone of his velvety vocals and how soulful his vocal delivery is, effortlessly enhancing the raw emotion of his storytelling. Accompanying his incredible vocal leads and harmonies, I am particularly fond of the blend of disco, pop and electronic music elements, especially the killer…
