If you listened to our 1996 Oasis Vintage Pop Stardom episode of the Greatest Pop Stars podcast, you’d know that host Andrew Unterberger and his longtime partner Lisa Ebe were planning on going to see Oasis on the Live ’25 tour in Dublin, Ireland last month — but were hardly positive that the Gallagher Brothers would make it to the show in tact. But not only has the full band made it to each of the 22 dates on its much-anticipated stadium tour — the lads’ first tour of any kind since breaking up in 2009 — but Oasis has been receiving…
Ravyn Lenae, GELO and Odeal accepted the R&B, Hip-Hop and African Rookies of the Year award at Billboard‘s 2025 R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players event Thursday night (Sept. 4) at Unveiled in New York. Staff writer Kyle Denis and I introduced the three Rookies, touting their Billboard chart stats — Lenae scored her first Billboard Hot 100 top five hit with “Love Me Not” and GELO’s “Tweaker” topped Rhythmic Airplay — and genre-blending capabilities, as Odeal has captured the global spotlight with his emotive, experimental blend of Afro-fusion, alté and R&B. “As I was preparing for tonight, I kept reflecting on how transformative this…

Check out our full interview below. Hooky played with Joy Division until they became New Order when Ian Curtis took his own life in 1980, before parting ways with the band in 2007 – leading to years of legal battle and trading barbs. directing duo Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard made waves with 20,000 Days On Earth, their unconventional 2014 documentary about Nick Cave that followed a fictional day in the beloved musician’s life. Their latest film takes a similarly inventive approach to celebrate the life of Marianne Faithfull. The set-up is a little goofy. A sharp-suited Tilda Swinton takes on the role of Overseer Of The Ministry Of Not Forgetting – and makes Faithfull the subject of her first research project. Her timeless 1964 single ‘As Tears Go By’ put her at the forefront of British music making it big in America…
Dwayne Johnson knows how to rock the box office. Thanks to a starring role in The Fast & Furious universe and the rebooted Jumanji: Welcome To Jungle, he’s become one of the highest-paid actors in the world. Directors know what they’re getting for their money – a muscular hero who’s not afraid of a cheesy quip. The Smashing Machine shows off a very different side to Johnson. Written and directed by Benny Safdie, this biopic of former Mixed Martial Arts fighter Mark Kerr (AKA The Smashing Machine) is inspired by the 2002 HBO documentary of the same name. Pulling no…

As previously reported, ARIA, the national labels trade body and charts compiler, undertook a major overhaul to its official chart methodology, the goal of which is to increase visibility for new music and Australian releases, and to invigorate an often-stagnate albums tally. The main change sees titles two years or older moved from the main, weekly charts to a new dedicated catalogue chart, ARIA On Replay. Related Today’s the day, and the revamped albums chart,…
As we’ve learned from watching the New Heights podcast, Travis Kelce‘s got jokes. Which is why it was no surprise when the Kansas City Chiefs’ three-time Super Bowl champ had a pithy quip when asked by reporters on Thursday (Sept. 4) to describe the biggest change in his life since recently getting engaged to longtime love Taylor Swift. “I got one more ring for it, two if we’re counting the first Super Bowl, ” Kelce said at a news conference in São Paulo, Brazil in advance of the Chiefs’ season kick-off game against the Los Angeles Chargers, according to the…
