Top Boy‘s Micheal Ward will appear in court next month on two charges of rape, two counts of assault by penetration and one count of sexual assault.

The offences all relate to one women and allegedly took place in January 2023.
“Our specialist officers continue to support the woman who has come forward – we know investigations of this nature can have a significant impact on those who make reports,” said Detective Superintendent Scott Ware, whose team is leading the Met Police’s investigation.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service, Ward, who lives in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on August 28.
“We remind all concerned that proceedings against the suspect are active and he has a right to a fair trial,” said Catherine Baccas, deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS London South in a statement.
“It is vital that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in anyway prejudice these proceedings.”
Ward played Jamie in Top Boy between 2013 and 2022. His other roles include Franklyn Cooper in ‘Lovers Rock’, an episode of the BBC series Small Axe, and the 2022 film Empire Of Light. He also was cast in the pandemic-era western Eddington, which will arrive in cinemas next month.
Top Boy came to an end with its fifth and final season in 2023. In a five-star review of Top Boy season five, NME wrote: “Not a second is wasted, with big moments happening right up until the final credits roll. It seems certain that we’ll be talking about Top Boy for years to come.”
