A serene rock charmer with imagery of enjoyable travels, “Enoshima” is a stirring track from Australian musician and producer LEEVAI and Tokyo-based band Yasu Cub, who caught our ears last month with dreamy rocker “all this time.”

The track was written by LEEVAI and Yasu Cub following a day trip together to the island of Enoshima, Japan. As is explained: “The song’s structure mirrors the flow of that day: the first half capturing the sunny anticipation of riding the train toward the sea, the latter the quiet return to the city at night.” The lyrical reference to “timezone lovers” is a reference to the track’s over-arching theme: “about seeing something beautiful while traveling, wishing a loved one could be there to see it, too.”

The tonal dynamics reflect a day with various sights, from the vibrant glistening within “blue skies and black kites above” to the nocturnal guitar dreaminess of the “walk home back to the station” — and a concluding distortion-laden emotion across the stirring final minute. “Enoshima” is an enveloping success. Look for Yasu Cub’s second album, my early years, your spiral arms, early next year.
